EcoSmart Fire Ark 40 Fire Table
Natural hues, weatherproof materials and industrial design features combine in the Ark 40 to create a striking fire solution. With a wide lip to perch a drink on and an unobtrusive cylindrical shape that suits all types of décor and settings, it creates an instant talking point even when it is not in use.
Hand-cast from a blend of green cement, recycled materials and Fluid™ Concrete Technology — or finished in Grade A teak — the Ark 40 resists scratches, stains, mould and mildew through seasons of exposure. Available in Ethanol, Natural Gas or Liquid Propane, it stands level on 360º height-adjustable articulating feet and complies with existing standards in the USA, Europe, the UK and Australia.
Circular, low and deliberately quiet in form, the Ark 40 organises a seating group without ever dominating it.
EcoSmart's burner technology is the reason that placement is so open-ended: each model can be ordered with plant-based ethanol, certified for indoor and outdoor installation, or with natural gas or liquid propane for the higher heat of an outdoor setting. Ethanol requires no chimney, no gas line and no building works.
An open flame at the centre of a terrace changes the temperature of an evening in every sense — drawing people out of the house, holding them there, and giving an outdoor room a reason to exist after dark.
The Ark 40 delivers that with the composure of a well-made piece of furniture.

EcoSmart Fire has spent more than twenty years building open-flame fire features that need no chimney, no flue and no gas line. The brand established the modern ventless bioethanol category, and its work is specified today by architects, designers and homeowners in private houses, hotels and hospitality projects worldwide.
The fire tables and fire pits carried here are the outdoor-living end of that range. A surface in Fluid™ Concrete or Grade A teak, a Grade 304 stainless steel burner set into it, toughened glass around the flame, and articulating feet so it sits level on a deck or a terrace. It is furniture you put a drink on in the afternoon and gather around in the evening.
Every model runs on plant-based bioethanol, or outdoors on natural gas or liquid propane. No smoke, no soot, no ash, nothing to clear away the next morning — which is the whole reason one of these can sit in the middle of a living room or a poolside terrace and still look like it belongs there.
The engineering behind that is the part nobody sees. Every EcoSmart burner is built around a three-chamber architecture: a single burning chamber, flanked by two fuel chambers packed with Grade 304 stainless steel wool. That steel wool does two jobs at once — it removes the free air from those chambers so combustion can only happen where it is meant to, and it regulates the temperature of the fuel before it reaches the flame. There is no wick, no ceramic wool and no fibreglass anywhere in it, so there is nothing inside the burner that can off-gas or break down over time. The burners are listed to UL 1370 in the USA, EN 16647 certified in the EU and UK, and ACCC Safety Mandate compliant in Australia — and EcoSmart had a hand in developing UL 1370 with Underwriters Laboratories in the first place.
What arrives at your door was not stamped out of a mould and boxed. Every concrete piece is made by hand using EcoSmart's own Fluid™ Concrete Technology — poured, cured, and then worked by a person until the surface is even, sealed on every face inside and out, and brought to a consistent sheen. That last stage is hand work, and it is why two tables in the same colour carry the same depth without ever looking machine-identical.
Both surrounds are chosen for how they age. Fluid™ Concrete is sealed on every surface, inside and out, so the finish stays impervious rather than porous: it resists scratches, stains, mould and mildew, and holds its colour through long UV exposure, heavy rain and freeze. It is around three times more scratch-resistant than most concrete products, blended from green cement and recycled material, and light enough to move without help.
The teak is Grade A — the highest grade of the timber, prized for keeping its strength and its looks in hard weather — supplied in a natural un-oiled finish that weathers to a soft silver-grey. Either way you are buying a surface built to live outdoors permanently, which is what lets one of these stay exactly where you put it, season after season, and still be the thing the terrace is arranged around.
EcoSmart Fire fireplaces differ from traditional wood and gas fireplaces in their structural simplicity, installation requirements, efficiency, and combustion cleanliness. They require no chimney, flue, gas line, or external venting, a fundamental structural advantage that changes how they are engineered and installed.
Traditional fireplaces demand significant structural modification: chimneys create loading requirements, flues must be vented externally, and gas models require utility connections and specialist fitting. EcoSmart Fire's bioethanol burners install as self-contained units with zero-clearance construction, fitting directly into wall cavities just 365 mm [14.4 in] deep, or standing freely. Installation is measured in hours, not weeks, with no trades beyond basic carpentry or cabinetry work.
Efficiency distinguishes them further. Traditional wood fireplaces lose substantial heat through their chimneys; gas fireplaces release heat via flues. EcoSmart Fire achieves over 90% fuel efficiency; all combustion heat stays in the room. There is no soot, smoke, or ash to clean; bioethanol burns to heat, water vapour, and CO₂ only. This means no sooty ceilings, no ash disposal, no chimney sweeping.
EcoSmart Fire burners carry third-party certifications (UL 1370, EN16647, ACCC) for ventless combustion safety. The technology's ventless design opens installations where traditional fireplaces cannot go: apartments, high-rise buildings, spaces without external walls, or anywhere structural modifications are impractical. This design flexibility, enabled by the fuel's clean combustion and safety certifications, represents the most significant departure from traditional heating.
EcoSmart Fire bioethanol fireplaces are rated for both indoor and outdoor use, with the specific setting determined by the product range. Core bioethanol ranges, including built-in, freestanding and linear designs, carry indoor and outdoor ratings. Outdoor-only products include fire pits and fire pit bowls, built for open-air and terrace settings. Certain freestanding designer fireplaces are rated for indoor use only. Indoor installations carry conditions: the room must meet the minimum volume for the chosen burner, and some products require a top tray or safety tray before indoor operation. Gas configurations across the range are outdoor only.
e-NRG bioethanol fuel is the purpose-formulated liquid bioethanol that EcoSmart Fire specifies for its ethanol burner range, chosen because fuel quality directly shapes how the flame performs, how long it lasts, and how safely the appliance operates.
EcoSmart burners are engineered around liquid bioethanol and require a consistent, compatible fuel to perform as designed. Burn performance varies with fuel composition, which is why the certifications that sit behind EcoSmart appliances, UL 1370 in the USA, EN 16647 BSI in Europe and the UK, and the ACCC Safety Mandate in Australia, assume an approved fuel in the burner. Using e-NRG keeps those engineered tolerances intact.
Responsible use is part of the package. Every EcoSmart Fire order includes a Jerry Can with Safety Spout for decanting, and filling should always be done in a well-ventilated space away from ignition sources.
An EcoSmart Fire fire table is made to live outdoors, and a little routine care keeps it looking the way it did the day it arrived. The surround is the part that meets the weather, so how you look after it comes down to what yours is made of.
Fluid™ Concrete
Your surround is handcrafted with Fluid™ Concrete Technology: solid concrete all the way through, remarkably strong for its weight, and finished with a thin protective color coat that gives each shade its depth. Because concrete is a natural material, it will gently shift in tone and texture over the years. That is part of its character, not a defect.
Moisture has more to do with how concrete ages than anything else, and the water to watch for is the water that cannot escape. Let your fire table dry completely before you cover it, and lift the cover regularly so the surface can breathe. If it lives in the open, think about where rain, sprinklers and drainage fall, and protect the floor beneath it as well, since porous surfaces such as unsealed timber decking readily soak up runoff.
A penetrating concrete sealer keeps the finish resilient and rich. Sealers wear away naturally with use, cleaning and sunlight, so reapply at least every six months at home, or every three months in a commercial setting. Wash the surface first with mild soap and warm water, and let it dry fully before the sealer goes on.
Small chips are easily taken care of with a touch-up pen. Clean the spot and sand it lightly if needed, shake the pen for 15 to 20 seconds, and test it somewhere discreet first. Build the color up in thin layers, letting each one dry, smooth the area with fine sandpaper if it needs it, then finish with a coat of sealer for lasting protection.
Grade A Teak
Grade A teak is the finest grade of the timber, supplied here in a natural, un-oiled finish. It carries its own natural oils, which make it durable and naturally resistant to weather, so it is at home outdoors all year round.
Over time, sun, rain and humidity mellow teak's honey-gold color into a soft silver-grey. The change is purely cosmetic and never a sign of dryness or decay. If you would rather keep the warm golden-brown tone, treat the wood from time to time with clear natural linseed oil (not boiled), Golden Care® Teak Protector, or a natural teak oil.
Every few months, wash the surface with a mild soap and water solution, rinse it with clean water and let it dry completely. Harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads and pressure washers strip the natural oils from the wood and can damage the grain, so leave them out of the routine.
For added resistance, apply a teak oil or sealer once or twice a year, or more often for pieces in commercial settings that face strong sun, rain or humidity. Raw, unsealed teak can also mark if a spill is left to sit, so wipe spills up promptly and the surface will stay beautifully clean.
Whatever the surround, a protective cover is one of the best investments you can make in your fire table. Just make sure the surface is completely dry before the cover goes on, so no moisture is sealed in beneath it.
