MAD Design Group is the Australian design house behind EcoSmart Fire, a range of freestanding and built-in fire features engineered around clean-burning bioethanol and, more recently, propane and natural gas. Its work is defined by two ideas: that a fire should not require a flue, a gas line, or a chimney to exist in a space, and that the appliance delivering it should be handsome enough to sit at the centre of a room or a terrace.

The company designs and manufactures its own burners, and certifies them independently — the ethanol burners used across this range are O-TL listed to UL 1370, BSI certified to EN 16647, and compliant with the ACCC safety mandate. Surrounds are cast from the company's Fluid™ concrete or built from teak, and finished by hand.
